about

The new EP 'Hand Tools' from BIG LAD, out November 2020:

Constructed from the brains and limbs of Wayne Adams (also PETBRICK) and Henri Grimes (also Reciprocate), Big Lad is, quite simply, difficult to frame in words, and perhaps, much better served by actions. Their live show has been continually captured, cropped and chopped on many failing devices over the years since their formation in 2015. Their circular mess of wires, bodies and drums is something to be witnessed in the flesh, the surrounding crowd quite literally drawn into their floor-based apparatus like moths to a flickering flame.

After the frenetic introduction of 2015’s debut - that married the collective excitement of both underground Punk and Electronic subcultures - 2018’s ‘Pro Rock’ saw Big Lad extend the euphoria of their live show, using primal energy as an antidote against the jargonistic culture of our present. It is not a surprise to encounter the digital remnants of appearances at celebrated festivals such as Arctangent, Supernormal and BANG FACE. Having exploited the lines between both inconsistent biology and technological perfection, they need to be seen to be believed.
